In a major development in the Juhu fake deed case, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule informed the विधानसभा that strict action has been initiated against officials involved in fraudulent property registration. A Joint Sub-Registrar has been suspended, while a detailed investigation and recovery process is now underway.
Fake Power of Attorney Used for Illegal Registration
According to Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the मामला involves Plot No. 35-C/1 (CTS 1070, 1071/1, 1071/2) in Juhu, where illegal registration was carried out using a fake Power of Attorney.
This fraudulent act allegedly caused a significant stamp duty loss to the Maharashtra government. Reports suggest that the scam may involve collusion of officials, particularly from the office of the Joint Sub-Registrar (Class-2, Mumbai-31).
Officer Suspended, Departmental Inquiry Initiated
Taking strict note of the irregularities, Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed that:
- The concerned officer has been suspended immediately
- A departmental inquiry has been launched
- The probe will be completed within 3 months
He emphasized that serious lapses in the registration process have been identified, indicating a clear case of fraud against the government.
₹100 Crore Property Under Scanner, Stamp Duty Recovery Begins
The government is now preparing legal action against properties worth around ₹100 crore linked to the scam.
Additionally, efforts are underway to recover approximately ₹3.82 crore in lost stamp duty. Minister Bawankule also stated that the government is considering criminal proceedings against those involved.
Wider Investigation Likely to Expose More Irregularities
In a significant move, Chandrashekhar Bawankule announced that:
- All registrations handled by the accused officer during their tenure will be re-examined
- More cases of fraud and irregularities may come to light
This indicates that the Juhu case could be just the tip of a larger property scam in Mumbai.
Government Plans System Reform to Prevent Future Fraud
To curb such scams, the Maharashtra government is working on:
- Micro-zoning system in Mumbai for better property valuation
- Property-wise assessment model to ensure transparency
- Possible amendments in Stamp & Registration Act in consultation with the central government
Minister Bawankule assured that these reforms will help eliminate discrepancies in property rates and registration frauds.
Conclusion
The Juhu fake deed case has exposed serious flaws in the property registration system. With Chandrashekhar Bawankule leading strict action, the case is now turning into a major crackdown on real estate fraud in Mumbai.
All eyes are now on the investigation report, which could uncover a much bigger nexus involving officials and fraudulent property deals.
