“Shocking twist in Delhi’s Gandhi Vihar UPSC aspirant Ramkesh Meena murdered by his live-in partner Amrita Chauhan, inspired by crime shows to stage it as an accident.”
Delhi’s Gandhi Vihar area witnessed a horrifying crime that seems straight out of a crime thriller — but this time, it was all too real. A 32-year-old UPSC aspirant, Ramkesh Meena, was brutally murdered by his live-in partner Amrita Chauhan, a forensic science student who used her crime knowledge to plan a near-perfect murder.
The incident took place on the night of October 6, when a sudden fire broke out inside Ramkesh’s house. Initially, it appeared to be a short circuit or AC blast, but as the Delhi Police dug deeper, a dark and shocking conspiracy surfaced.

Amrita, who was living with Ramkesh for the past few months, had allegedly accused him of clicking her private photos and videos and refusing to delete them. What started as a love story turned into an obsession and then into a well-planned murder plot.
According to police sources, Amrita had been watching several crime web series and documentaries to learn how to disguise a murder as an accident. She even roped in her former boyfriend Sumit Kashyap and his friend Sandeep, who worked in an LPG service company, to execute her plan.
On the night of the murder, Amrita and Sumit allegedly strangled Ramkesh to death inside his room. To make it look like an accident, they poured ghee, oil, and alcohol over the body. Sandeep then leaked LPG gas from the cylinder and locked the main door from outside. Amrita made a small hole in the door grill to ignite the fire from outside — and within minutes, a massive blast engulfed the room in flames.
At first, police believed it was a tragic fire accident, but CCTV footage from the area turned the case upside down. The video captured two masked figures entering the house and leaving moments before the explosion. Mobile location tracking later confirmed that Amrita’s phone was active near the scene, leading to her arrest.
During interrogation, Amrita confessed to the crime, claiming she acted out of “compulsion.” However, investigators believe it was a cold-blooded, premeditated murder driven by anger and revenge.
The gruesome murder of a young UPSC aspirant, who once dreamed of serving the nation, has left the capital shocked. A love story that began with promises ended with betrayal, blood, and fire.
Experts are now calling it one of the most “chilling and intelligent crime executions” in recent times — a crime born out of obsession, and perfected through lessons learned from crime series.
