Nagpur Crime News: Vehicle Theft Gang Busted, Two Arrested; 15 Stolen Bikes Recovered

Nagpur police have achieved a major breakthrough by busting a vehicle theft gang operating in the city. The Crime Branch has arrested two notorious thieves and recovered as many as 15 stolen two-wheelers from their possession, solving multiple pending theft cases.

How the Nagpur vehicle theft gang was exposed

The case came to light when a woman, Seema Bharat Sewak, a resident of Hiwri Nagar under Nandanvan Police Station, reported that her Activa scooter was stolen from outside her residence. Following her complaint, the Crime Branch Unit-3 began an investigation and traced CCTV footage linked to the theft.

Based on the leads, the police arrested Rishabh Sham Asopa, who during interrogation confessed to committing the thefts along with his partner Imran Khan Majid Khan. Both were taken into custody for further questioning.

15 cases solved across Nagpur police stations

During the detailed probe, the accused admitted to being involved in 15 vehicle theft cases registered across different police stations in Nagpur including Nandanvan, Sitabuldi, Kalamna, Kotwali, Bajaj Nagar, Jaripatka, Ajni, Hudkeshwar, Gittikhadan, and Dhantoli.

The police recovered stolen two-wheelers worth nearly ₹5.5 lakh from their possession. Notably, Rishabh Asopa already has multiple cases of vehicle theft registered against him in the past, making him a habitual offender.

Police crackdown on rising theft cases in Nagpur

This successful operation is being seen as a significant achievement for Nagpur Police, as it not only brought relief to multiple victims but also curbed the growing incidents of vehicle theft in the city. The accused are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to check their involvement in other unsolved theft cases.
