Politics in Karnataka has once again taken a heated turn. Reports suggest that the Congress government is preparing to introduce a new law that could restrict organizations like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from holding events in government-owned spaces.
Reacting sharply to this development, Maharashtra Minister and senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule launched a direct attack on the Congress, accusing it of “stooping to the lowest level of politics.”
Bawankule said, “RSS is like a diamond — the more you try to crush it, the brighter it shines.”
According to reports, the proposed law — ‘Regulation of Use of Government Premises and Properties Bill 2025’ — will make it mandatory for any organization to seek prior permission from government authorities before conducting religious or political programs on government property.
This means if the RSS wants to organize its daily shakha in a government school or ground, it will now need approval from the district collector or police superintendent.
The draft reportedly proposes two years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000 for first-time violations. A second offense could attract three years of jail and a ₹1 lakh fine, and continued violations may lead to a daily penalty of ₹5,000.
The BJP has alleged that this bill is specifically designed to target the RSS, claiming that the Congress fears its growing ideological influence.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is also the Guardian Minister of Nagpur and Amravati, strongly criticized the move.
He said, “The Karnataka government is financially collapsing and failing on every front. To divert public attention from corruption and internal conflicts, the Congress is now resorting to defaming the RSS.”
He added, “The more Congress tries to suppress the RSS, the stronger it will become. RSS is like a diamond — it shines brighter every time it’s hit.”
BJP leaders say Congress is running away from real issues like development, unemployment, and corruption, and is now resorting to attacking Hindutva and RSS to distract voters.
But the question remains — can Congress really stop the RSS?
Or will Bawankule’s words come true — “The more you try to suppress it, the brighter it will shine”?
Karnataka’s proposed bill is likely to spark a major political showdown in the coming days.
While the BJP calls it an attack on RSS, the Congress insists it’s merely about regulating the use of government property.
One thing is clear — this controversy has once again brought the RSS vs Congress battle into the national spotlight.
