Nagpur News: Coordination Meeting on Stray Dogs Issue, Positive Discussions Held

Nagpur, Maharashtra: The growing problem of stray dogs in Nagpur has now reached the administrative level, with authorities preparing concrete steps for effective control. During the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) at the Bombay High Court, Nagpur Bench, the court observed that concerned departments were not fully complying with its earlier directives. Expressing dissatisfaction, the court ordered a coordination meeting to be held to address the issue.

On Saturday, a crucial coordination meeting was held under the chairmanship of Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravindrakumar Singhal at Police Bhavan. Senior officials from Nagpur Police, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), District Collector’s office, and Animal Husbandry Department were present during the meeting.

In addition, several animal welfare organizations, NGOs working for animal protection, dog lovers, and responsible citizens of Nagpur actively participated and presented their suggestions. Their valuable inputs are expected to help in formulating an effective action plan for stray dog management in Nagpur city.

Animal lovers who attended the meeting expressed their commitment to follow the court’s directions. At the same time, they highlighted the challenges faced while dealing with stray dogs and sought active support from the police and civic administration.

The Nagpur coordination meeting marked a positive step towards finding long-term and practical solutions for the city’s stray dog menace. With cooperation between authorities and citizens, Nagpur hopes to achieve a balanced approach — ensuring both public safety and animal welfare.
