NEET Paper Leak Row Sparks Fresh Questions Over Medical Admission Scam in Nagpur

The alleged NEET paper leak controversy has once again exposed the dark side of India’s medical admission system. While lakhs of students spend years preparing honestly for the highly competitive exam, a parallel “medical seat racket” is reportedly flourishing across the country — including in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Several counselling centres and middlemen are allegedly promising guaranteed MBBS admissions in India and abroad in exchange for huge amounts of money, raising serious concerns among students, parents, and education experts.
According to reports, some counselling agencies are offering special “medical admission packages” ranging from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 75 lakh. These packages allegedly include promises of management quota seats in private medical colleges, direct admissions in foreign universities, and guaranteed MBBS seats without merit-based competition.
Nagpur Counselling Centres Under Scanner
Nagpur has reportedly emerged as one of the cities where such counselling networks are actively operating. Sources claim that several agencies advertise heavily online and offline, assuring parents that their children can secure admission in reputed medical colleges through their “connections.”
The issue has gained attention after earlier controversies linked to alleged admission frauds in the city. CBI scam accused Parimal Kotapalliwar had earlier come under scrutiny for allegedly running a similar operation under the banner of “R.S. Education.” Although that racket was exposed, allegations suggest that similar activities are still continuing through other counselling centres.
Last year, a cheating case was reportedly registered against a counselling centre in Nagpur over alleged medical admission fraud. However, no major action or breakthrough in the case was publicly seen afterward.
How the Alleged Medical Admission Scam Works
Investigations and complaints in similar cases reveal a pattern in which parents are approached with attractive offers for MBBS admissions in India or abroad.
These counselling centres allegedly study the NEET marks and financial background of students before offering customized packages. Parents are reportedly told that seats are “blocked,” “confirmed,” or “under official processing” after paying advance amounts.
- Fake admission letters
- Forged college documents
- False university approval claims
- Fake counselling lists
- Misleading promises of guaranteed MBBS seats
Parents are often promised admissions in countries such as Nepal, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and even the United States. However, many families reportedly receive little or no clarity regarding university recognition, course quality, FMGE/NExT eligibility, or the validity of those medical degrees in India.
Honest NEET Aspirants Feel Betrayed
The controversy has triggered anger among genuine NEET aspirants and parents. Students spend years preparing for the exam through hard work, coaching, and sacrifices, while alleged admission brokers continue operating openly.
Education activists and parents have raised serious questions over the lack of strict action against such rackets. Many believe that the system is becoming unfair for middle-class and poor students who cannot afford massive “donation-style” packages.
The recent NEET paper leak allegations have further intensified concerns about transparency and corruption in the medical education system.
Demand for Strict Action Against Medical Seat Mafia
With multiple complaints and fraud cases surfacing over the last few years, demands are growing for stronger monitoring of counselling centres and private admission networks.
Experts say authorities must:
- Verify counselling agencies regularly
- Crack down on fake admission consultants
- Monitor private medical admission transactions
- Create awareness among parents
- Take strict legal action against middlemen and fraud operators
Parents are also being advised to verify every admission process directly through official government portals, MCC counselling systems, and recognized university websites before making any payment.
As the debate over NEET transparency continues nationwide, the alleged medical seat racket in Nagpur has once again highlighted the growing commercialization of medical education in India.
