False Rape Case Shatters a Successful Life: The Untold Story of Nagpur’s Interior Designer Manish Buradkar

Nagpur: This is not just a story of a man — it’s a story of betrayal, truth, and justice. A false rape case destroyed the life of Nagpur-based interior designer Manish Buradkar, once known across Maharashtra for his creative work. In 2021, a woman named Ruchika (name changed) joined his firm MB Design, handling accounts and supervision.

Over time, she gained his trust and sought financial help. Buradkar, out of goodwill, helped her with around ₹5.5 lakh. Later, when he found financial irregularities and asked for repayment, the woman allegedly began blackmailing him, threatening to file a rape case. Within months, in November 2023, a rape complaint was registered against him at Beltarodi Police Station.

Shockingly, her husband and brother-in-law also joined the conspiracy, demanding money and threatening Buradkar. Soon his name and photos appeared in newspapers, branding him as absconding, even though he was in Mumbai for work. Facing humiliation and a media trial, Manish never lost faith in the judiciary. In September 2024, the Hon’ble High Court dismissed the entire case, stating that “the evidence and statements lacked credibility.” The court concluded that the rape allegation was false and fabricated.

After his acquittal, Manish Buradkar filed defamation and criminal cases against the conspirators — Swarup Harshvardhan Patil (29, Bhivapur), Sushant Meenanath Bhagwatkar (36, Kabir Nagar), Harshvardhan Prabhakar Patil (63, Bhivapur), and Mahendra Ganpatrao Umredkar (59, Panchpaoli, Nagpur). He also filed a recovery suit to claim damages for financial and mental harassment. Buradkar said, “I was humiliated and mentally tortured for two years for something I never did. I want justice against those who ruined my reputation.”

This case highlights the growing concern over false cases and misuse of law, which not only harm the accused but also dilute the fight for genuine victims. Manish’s ordeal shows how one false allegation can destroy years of hard work and peace. Today, he is rebuilding his career and life, determined to seek justice and ensure that such misuse of law does not go unpunished.
