A shocking case of negligence has surfaced in the security arrangements of President Droupadi Murmu. During her official visit to Kerala, the President’s Air Force helicopter got stuck in a pit formed on the helipad during landing — a serious lapse that has now raised major questions about safety preparedness.

According to reports, the incident took place at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Perunad, Pathanamthitta district, on Wednesday morning. The President was on her way to Sabarimala for a pilgrimage visit when the helicopter landed on a newly constructed concrete helipad.

However, sources revealed that the helipad was constructed overnight on Tuesday and was not given enough time for the concrete to properly dry. As the heavy helicopter touched down, the soft concrete caved in, creating a pit and causing the wheels to get stuck.

Visuals from the site showed police and fire personnel struggling to free the helicopter’s wheels. Fortunately, President Murmu safely disembarked and proceeded to Pamba by road without any injury or delay.

A senior police officer later confirmed that the helicopter was initially scheduled to land at Nilakkal, closer to Sabarimala, but due to adverse weather conditions, the landing was shifted to Perunad. The officer admitted, “The helipad’s concrete was not fully cured, and it couldn’t bear the helicopter’s weight.”

President Murmu is currently on a four-day official visit to Kerala. On Wednesday, she offered prayers at the Sabarimala temple. Although no one was harmed, the incident has sparked serious discussions regarding the preparedness and quality of arrangements for the President’s security.
