Greater Noida has once again been shaken by a shocking incident that has exposed the ugly face of dowry and domestic violence. In the Nikki Payla murder case, fresh revelations have left everyone stunned.

Nikki, a young mother from Sirsa village under Kasna police station in Greater Noida, was brutally burnt alive in front of her innocent son. The six-year-old child, in a viral video, made a chilling statement: “Papa set mummy on fire with a lighter.” His words have not only shocked the nation but also pointed fingers directly at Nikki’s husband Vipin and his family.

The Brutal Murder

According to police reports, Nikki was mercilessly beaten and then set ablaze by her husband and in-laws. She was rushed to a private hospital in a severely burnt condition, but was later referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries before treatment could begin.

Social Media, Boutique and Family Tensions

The case is no longer limited to dowry harassment. A new angle has emerged involving Nikki’s boutique business, her elder sister’s beauty parlour, and their active presence on Instagram.

Vipin, her husband, reportedly disliked Nikki’s boutique and social media activities. He often objected to negative comments on her posts and allegedly forced her to shut down her Instagram account. Sources reveal that heated arguments over her online presence and business ventures were frequent, leading to escalating domestic disputes.

In fact, a video of Nikki being beaten had earlier gone viral on Instagram, after which the local panchayat intervened and forced her to close her boutique. However, Nikki and her sister Kanchan had recently planned to restart their business and social media activities, which reportedly reignited tensions at home.

The Dowry Angle – ₹35 Lakh Dispute

Adding fuel to the fire was a financial dispute between Nikki’s maternal family and her in-laws over a ₹35 lakh settlement. Reports suggest that Vipin’s father was under immense pressure due to this unresolved issue, which may have played a role in the growing hostility towards Nikki.

Police Action

Vipin has been arrested, and during his attempt to flee, he was shot in the leg by police. Nikki’s mother-in-law, Daya, has also been sent to jail, while the search for other accused family members is ongoing. Shockingly, Vipin has been changing his statements frequently — sometimes claiming he loved Nikki deeply and never harmed her, while at other times shifting blame to social media disputes.

But Nikki’s son’s testimony remains consistent: “Papa burnt mummy.”
